Born in Singapore and raised in Australia by Tanzanian and Zimbabwean parents, Musonga Mbogo is a visual artist whose practice explores diaspora, identity, and cultural memory through painting, installation, and public art.
Over the past two years, he completed more than 50 metres of artwork for a local children’s hospital—his largest public commission to date.
Developed in response to the hospital’s architecture and the movement of people through the space, the project transformed clinical corridors into immersive environments designed to bring moments of optimism, curiosity, and comfort to young patients, their families, and healthcare workers.
Extending his broader practice into the public realm, the commission reflects his interest in how art can shape the emotional experience of shared spaces and foster a sense of belonging.
His work has received recognition through design awards and he has collaborated with organisations including Nike and the Sydney Opera House.
